A Prayer for Las Vegas

Our Father in Heaven:

Our hearts break because of the tragic loss of life in Las Vegas. It is horrific. The pain and suffering are unfathomable. Dear God, please let your presence be felt by those who are experiencing shock and grief. Many families now have been changed forever. Many lives will be scarred in unspeakable ways. Please send your Spirit to surround each loss with your comfort, and envelop those with love who are experiencing pain. For the many who are wounded—please heal them.

As your church, we are broken by the suffering in this world. Help us to hurt with those who hurt, to love as you would have us love, and to care for all our fellow human beings, each of whom is created in your image.

God, you are hope. Your son came to heal our hearts and offer us the promise of resurrection. May we turn to him on this dark day of mourning.

In Jesus's name, we cry out, Amen.
