Houston, TX, is now the most ethnically diverse metropolitan area in the country, surpassing New York City. Wayne Smith (ThM, 1998), pastor of Bethel Church, has the vision and prayer to bring the love and hope provided in Christ to all in his culturally rich city of Houston. Wayne's heart of compassion becomes evident when his church scours communities still in need of urgent assistance in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey or ministers to the lost and homeless in the Church in the Park service. Wayne often says, "Bethel Church of Houston is a family of believers who are committed to making disciples of Jesus who glorify God in all of life." As a DTS alum, Wayne continues to inspire and motivate others to share Christ with those in need of hope.
