Permission Evangelism: When to Talk, When to Walk
This “new and life-changing way to share your faith” is an encouragement to overcome the dread of personal evangelism by gaining permission from the listener (a concept borrowed from Seth Godin’s Permission Marketing [New York: Simon & Schuster, 1999]) and using the power of testimony-based presentations of the good news. Simpson seeks to motivate Christians to participate in God’s passion for reaching the lost. The author encourages believers to consider what God has done for them and what He may be doing in the lives of nonbelievers to bring them to Christ. Simpson gives practical strategies on how to make personal evangelism less threatening, such as the use of stories, trigger phrases, and other bridges in presenting the gospel effectively.
