In the summer after his rookie season in the NFL, David attended a summer Bible study. After the study, the teacher exhorted David to quit football and go to seminary. Over the years, the teacher of the Bible study and David became great friends, yet the teacher’s exhortation was always the same…“Go to seminary!”

"Directing a football team down
the field pales in comparison."

In 2000, David’s life took a new direction. After continual prodding, David applied to Dallas Theological Seminary. Since then David has graduated from DTS…twice! Now 10 years later, Dr. David Klingler is the Executive Director of the DTS Houston Campus and Assistant Professor of Old Testament Studies.
"What’s at stake in leading students is not first downs and touchdowns, but life and death, true victory and defeat."
