Dallas Theological Seminary (DTS) is accredited by two different associations—The Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada (ATS) and The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).
Every ten years the Seminary undergoes a reaffirmation of its accreditation with these agencies. The process involves a several-month period of self-evaluation in light of the respective association’s standards, culminating in an on-site evaluation visit by both associations. Information on the process of accreditation as well as the standards of accreditation for both agencies can be found on their respective websites (www.ats.edu and www.sacscoc.org).
The Seminary will concurrently host an ATS visiting team and a SACSCOC visiting team this coming March 24–27, 2014. During this period, the visiting teams will review documents provided by DTS, interview board, faculty, staff, students and others, and hold an open session for anyone who would like to comment.
Please consult the schedule below for for a general idea of the schedule for the reaffirmation committees while on campus in Dallas. Specific times and details are subject to change.
Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP)
As part of its reaffirmation with the SACS Commission on Colleges, the Seminary must develop a QEP that focuses on enhancing student learning or enhancing the environment for student learning. One of the major tasks of the SACSCOC reaffirmation committee while on campus will be to interact with the Seminary on its QEP.
