June 2021 – (Dallas, Texas)— Dallas Theological Seminary will offer two new degree programs beginning Fall 2021.

MA in Jewish Studies

Given the seminary’s dispensational heritage and a corresponding belief in a future hope for Israel, it fits that DTS offers a conservative evangelical program in Jewish studies. The Master of Arts in Jewish Studies (MAJS) is a 74-hour program coordinated with either Israel College of the Bible (ICB) in Netanya, Israel, or Messianic Jewish Theological Academy (MJTA) in Berlin, Germany. Vladimir Pikman, Founding Director of MJTA, sees this as the right degree at the right time.

Pikman states, “Education in Jewish Studies and Jewish ministry is desperately needed for Europe. MAJS will meet this need and become the first such program for existing and emerging leaders of the Messianic movement and Jewish outreach in Germany and beyond. We are grateful to offer this program together with DTS for the sake of the salvation of Jewish people and other nations.”

Doctor of Education

The purpose of the Doctor of Education (EdD) program is to prepare Christian educators who are currently in or plan to pursue administrative leadership roles in K-12 or higher education institutions. The EdD program expands what had been accomplished in the Advanced Academic cohort of the Doctor of Educational Ministry (DEdMin) program. The EdD will be practical like the DEdMin, but the focus will be more in line with the needs of those who desire to be in educational leadership positions.  According to DTS President Dr. Mark Yarbrough, “DTS continues to look globally and creatively at ministry contexts. The MA in Jewish Studies and the Doctor of Education nicely complement the seminary’s existing degrees and simultaneously meet students’ needs for the service to which God has called them.”

Dr. George Hillman, Vice President for Education, states, “These new degree programs will further enhance our ability to offer compelling and relevant educational options to meet the needs of diverse ministry and educational opportunities here in the US and around the globe.”
