About the Contributors
R. Daniel Shaw
R. Daniel Shaw grew up the son of missionary parents in India and the Philippines. An interest in native peoples led to an M.A. in anthropology in 1968 from the University of Arizona and a Ph.D. in 1976 at the University of Papua New Guinea. While serving with SIL in PNG for 12 years, he translated Scripture with the Samo and served as an International Anthropology Consultant, a position he holds to the present. In 1981 he was invited to join the faculty of (what is now) the Fuller Graduate School of Intercultural Studies, where he developed both masters and doctoral programs. Dr. Shaw regularly consults and teaches around the world regarding cultural issues in Bible translation and cross-cultural training as well as serving on several boards, including Mission Aviation Fellowship, the American Society of Missiology, and Providence Mission Homes. He is a member of numerous professional societies where he presents and publishes professional papers. He has authored, co-authored or edited thirteen books, as well as numerous pieces of other works.
Dr. Shaw and his wife, Georgia, are members of Lake Ave. Church in Pasadena and make their home in Alhambra, CA.
