Ikki Soma
Ikki was bon in Tokyo, Japan, before moving to LA when he was 6 months old. At age 5, he moved to the San Francisco Bay Area. He attended high school in Cupertino, where he played rugby. Through the influence of his coach, who was also a youth pastor, and several of his teammates, he heard and accepted the gospel in 1988. Ikki graduated from California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo, where he continued to play rugby and run track. He was heavily involved in youth and sports ministry in college, and sensed the call to ministry. He enrolled at Dallas Theological Seminary, and while a student, served as the pastoral assistant to Dr. Tony Evans at Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship. While at DTS, he met his wife Tara, with whom he has two daughters. After graduation, he planted a multi-ethnic church in San Antonio, and has served as the pastor of City of Refuge church since 2012. His passions are multi-cultural preaching, discipleship, and leadership. His hobbies include reading, running, and watching his daughters play volleyball.
