Engineering a Healthy Ministry

Christy Chermak is the Executive Director of Watermark Health, the medical outreach ministry of Watermark Community Church in Dallas, TX. With 25 full-time staff members, three locations, and over 100 volunteers, Watermark Health serves vulnerable populations in DFW by caring for their physical and spiritual needs through low-cost or no-cost medical care and a mission to engage every patient in a spiritual conversation. They serve over 11,000 patients annually, providing services that save the residents of DFW $12 million. WMH had the opportunity to be on the frontlines of the COVID-19 Pandemic and continues to find ways to meet the unique gaps in our healthcare system by providing resources for under-insured and uninsured populations. Before joining Watermark staff in 2015, Christy received her Masters of Engineering at Southern Methodist University, worked at a corporate engineering firm for five years, and spent time abroad with a nonprofit missions engineering group. Christy is passionate about mobilizing the church to serve the city.
