Ministry Perspective from Pastors’ Wives

Dr. Mark Bailey, president of DTS, and Dr. Joe Allen, campus pastor at DTS, talk with their wives, Barby and Lindsey, about their experiences in ministry as pastors’ wives and partners in the local church.

Barby Bailey
Mrs. Barbara Bailey has a deep passion and long history of service to Christian ministry, including her present work as the wife of Dallas Theological Seminary President, Dr. Mark Bailey. For over 30 years, Barby has ministered to women through leading Bible studies and speaking at women’s retreats. As the wife of a pastor and theological professor, she has shared in her husband’s ministry to shepherd and teach. In her current role of President’s wife, she travels extensively with her husband and heads up the faculty wives’ functions, and mentors some student wives through DTS’s Seminary Wives in Ministry program.
Joe M. Allen Jr.
Dr. Allen earned his Master of Theology degree from Dallas Theological Seminary in 1988 and his Doctor of Ministry degree from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1994. He has been pastoring for over 30 years, mainly in Georgia, his home state. His high school sweetheart, and wife for over 40 years, Lindsey teaches 5th grade at First Baptist Academy. The Allens have two married children and two grandchildren. Both of their children serve in vocational Christian ministry. Joe currently serves as our Campus Pastor at Dallas Theological Seminary.
Mark L. Bailey
Dr. Bailey assumed the Seminary’s presidency after years of service as both a professor in the Bible Exposition department and as the Vice President for Academic Affairs. In addition to his years at Dallas Seminary, he has pastored various churches in Arizona and Texas. He was a seminar instructor for Walk Thru the Bible Ministries for twenty years and is in demand for Bible conferences and other preaching engagements. His overseas ministries have included Venezuela, Argentina, Hungary, and China. He is also a regular tour leader in Israel, Jordan, Egypt, Turkey, Greece, and Rome. His board service includes Bible Study Fellowship, Insight for Living, Jews for Jesus, and Walk Thru the Bible Ministries.
