Heather Severding
Dr. Heather Severding serves as the Assistant Director of Online Student Engagement and teaches in both the Educational Ministries and Leadership and Counseling Ministries departments at DTS. Prior to joining the seminary, she taught in public schools and spent ten years serving in youth ministry at a local church. (Fun fact: she was Dr. Hillman’s 5th-grade teacher!) Dr. Severding is passionate about developing the next generation of leaders through coaching, teaching, mentoring, discipleship, and leadership development.
She holds an undergraduate degree in Secondary Education from the University of North Texas, and earned both her Master of Arts in Christian Leadership and her Doctor of Educational Ministry from Dallas Theological Seminary. She is also currently completing the Certified Christian Leadership Coach (CCLC) certification through Coach Approach Ministries. As a professional leadership coach, she specializes in helping individuals discover their giftings, explore career development, and navigate key life transitions.
Outside of her work, Dr. Severding enjoys outdoor activities, ballroom dancing, and watching classic black-and-white movies. She’s also a hot tea enthusiast and can often be found in local coffee shops exploring new blends and enjoying time with friends.
