DTS Centennial Celebration

Welcome to the centennial celebration of Dallas Theological Seminary! In 1924, believing that all Scripture is the inerrant and inspired Word of God, the founders of DTS envisioned a school that would train pastors and ministers in all sixty-six books of the Bible. A century later, DTS continues to equip godly servant-leaders for the proclamation of his Word and the building up of the body worldwide.

The mission launched by founding president Lewis Sperry Chafer is carried on by 600 faculty and staff members working with 2,600 students, along with a network of over 16,000 alumni, all living out the school’s motto, “Preach the Word,” in numerous languages and art forms.

“When I talk with people about DTS,” Dr. Michael Ortiz says, “I always let them know that DTS is the real deal: what you see is what you get. And what you get is a heritage of doctrinal steadfastness and authenticity.” Dr. Pierre Cannings agrees: “When I think of DTS, I admire the consistency and reliability of seeking the truth in the authority of the Word.”

Seeking the truth together builds a loving community and encourages each student in their journey. “DTS was where I learned who I was and what I wanted to do with my life,” alumna Courtney Bowser (MABC, 2019) says. “My spiritual, intellectual, and emotional education at DTS have influenced my relationships and career goals.”

Thankful for that heritage of truth and love, and grateful for what God continues to do through DTS, we look forward to a once-in-a-lifetime year of celebrating and praising God together. Looking into the future of DTS, Dr. John Dyer says, “My prayer is that in ever-changing contexts, the seminary will never change in its passion for, diligence in, and prioritization of the values and commitments that grew a fledging institution into a world-class citadel of Christian orthodoxy and orthopraxy. May its vision never stray from the centrality of the gospel and the call to international proclamation of it!”
