About the Contributors

Brian S. Chan

Dr. Chan is passionate about biblical beauty that leads to a mad love for God. He served for 18 years as a pastor in Los Angeles and taught at Biola University for 17 years on a theology of beauty, art, and film. He is a workshop instructor and speaker in Hollywood. As a pastor, he discipled entertainment industry professionals and innovated creative outreaches in the community. Dr. Chan is an award-winning fine artist and is a board member of LELA International Artists. He is a certified kung fu master (sifu) and worked as a fight choreographer, stuntman, and trainer of actors. He is the author of The Purple Curtain: Living Out Beauty in Faith & Culture from a Biblical Perspective, Not Easily Broken (novel), “Shadow” in It Was Good: Performing Arts to the Glory of God, and “Movies: Celluloid Sanctification” in Ordinary Saints. His fun interests include geeking at comic cons, wilderness backpacking, traveling, and bonsai art. He is married to his soulmate, Ellen, and the proud dad of his son. Dr. Chan’s mission is to create beauty out of brokenness, exhibiting the beauty of Christ in all of life

Kasey Olander

Kasey Olander works as the Web Content Specialist at The Hendricks Center at DTS. Originally from the Houston area, she graduated from The University of Texas at Dallas with a bachelor’s degree in Arts & Technology. She served on staff with the Baptist Student Ministry, working with college students at UT Dallas and Rice University, particularly focusing on discipleship and evangelism training. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, having interesting conversations, and spending time with her husband.
