Matthew Williams Ministers to Former Child Soldiers

Exile International has worked with over 3,000 child victims of war in Uganda and DR Congo. These children were abducted, kidnapped, and trained to serve in rebel armies as early as the age of 9 years old. They lived not only in geographic exile but in emotional exile as well.

DTS alumnus Matthew William’s goal as a counselor at Exile International is to restore former child soldiers to become leaders of peace through their therapy and rehabilitative care. He and his wife Bethany say, “We choose to live in hope and refuse to believe that evil will win.” They provide this kind of leadership by keeping their eyes on Jesus, depending on his transformative power in the hearts of the children in their care.
