David George Moore

Dave is the founder and president of Two Cities Ministries in Austin, Texas. He’s had many jobs from arresting shoplifters to pastoral ministry. The latter was the most dangerous.
Author of four books, the most recent called “Stuck in the Present: How History Frees and Forms Christians,” was released in May 2021. “The Last Men’s Book You’ll Ever Need” was reviewed favorably in various places including Between Two Worlds and Library Journal. In 2003, Dave’s commentary on Ecclesiastes was picked by Preaching Magazine as “one of the year’s best books for preachers.” His articles have appeared in the Austin American-Statesman, Bibliotheca Sacra, Current Thoughts & Trends, Front Porch Republic, The Gospel Coalition, The Huffington Post, Knowing & Doing(C.S. Lewis Institute Publication), Mere Orthodoxy, Patheos, Reformation & Revival Journal, Stulos Theological, TomPaine.com,, andTouchstone. He is a regular contributor to Christianity Today/Jesus Creed, and the C.S.Lewis Institute. He’s been featured on Base Camp Live and the podcast of First Things. Dave is co-authoring (with Professor Michael Haykin) a forthcoming book on Jonathan Edwards and Ralph Waldo Emerson.
He has spoken in France, Poland, Canada, Croatia, and Mexico. In the United States, Dave has been a plenary speaker for the Veritas Forum and Campus Crusade for Christ. Along with many retreats and conferences, Dave has spoken to NFL football teams, major league baseball, and the LPGA. Media work includes interviews on TV and radio, a three-year stint as the host of a radio show, and interviewing William F. Buckley for a one-hour special which aired nationally on PBS. He is currently writing and hosting a documentary on those who are disillusioned with organized Christianity in America. He has interviewed about 200 writers, leaders, and scholars. Among others, these include three Pulitzer prize winners and William F. Buckley.
Dave received a M.A. (with honors) in biblical studies from Dallas Theological Seminary and a M.A. in Christian Thought (magna cum laude) from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. At Trinity, he was the recipient of various honors including the Professor C.B. Bjuge Award given by the faculty for th ebest thesis in theology, along with being the co-recipient with his wife, of the Kitty DeBaets Memorial Award for commitment to “scholarship and family.”During the summer of 2016, he was appointed a Visiting Scholar at Princeton Theological Seminary.
He is married to Doreen, a summa cum laude graduate of Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. Doreen is the author of “Good Christians, Good Husbands?”, which is used as a regular resource at Dallas Theological Seminary. Doreen has been a Visiting Scholar at Princeton Theological Seminary.
Dave and Doreen have two sons: David holds a master’s degree in accounting from the University of Texas, is a CPA, and works for Deloitte Consulting in Dallas, Texas. Chris received B.A. degrees in classics and philosophy, both summa cum laude, at the University ofTexas. He received early acceptance into Phi Beta Kappa. He taughtLatin, Logic, and coached basketball at The Ambrose School in Boise, Idaho.He also taught at The Lincoln School in Guadalajara Mexico. In the fall of 2021 he will begin law school at Harvard.
