Jason Allen

Elected on October 15, 2012, Dr. Jason K. Allen serves as the fifth president of Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, in Kansas City, Mo. Since coming to Midwestern Seminary, he has led the institution to become one of the largest and fastest growing seminaries in North America. In addition to his role as President, Dr. Allen serves the institution in the classroom as professor for preaching and pastoral ministry.  

 

More broadly, Dr. Allen also serves the church through his preaching and writing ministries. Before coming to Midwestern Seminary, he pastored two churches in Kentucky, and has been interim pastor of numerous others. He regularly preaches and teaches in local church and conference settings.  

 

Dr. Allen has authored, edited, or contributed to more than a dozen books, including the The SBC & the 21st Century (B&H Publishing), Discerning Your Call to Ministry (Moody Publishing), Being a Christian (B&H Publishing), Succeeding at Seminary (Moody Publishing), Letters to My Students Vol. I and II (B&H Publishing), and, most recently, Turnaround (B&H Publishing). 

 

Dr. Allen posts essays on his website, jasonkallen.com, and hosts a weekly podcast, “Preaching & Preachers,” which can also be found at jasonkallen.com. Before coming to Midwestern Seminary, Dr. Allen served as a senior administrator at Southern Seminary in Louisville, Ky, where he also completed the Master of Divinity and PhD degrees.  

 

He and his wife, Karen, are both from Mobile, Ala., and have five children: Anne-Marie, Caroline, William, Alden, and Elizabeth.
